Free Golf for Life

Enjoy a game at Shawnee Inn and Golf

Resort's 27-hole championship course. It's free for Shawnee Ridge residents on weekdays, including the cart! This is a great opportunity for beginners to pick up a new hobby or avid golfers to continue their love of the game.

About the Course: You could be standing on one of the most prized PA golf courses in the Northeast - The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Completed in 1911, our 27-hole Pocono Mountains golf course is A.W. Tillinghast's first-ever design. Tillinghast later went on to design the Beth Page courses in NY, San Francisco Golf Club, Paramount Country Club in NYC, Niagara Falls Country Club, Ridgewood Country Club in NJ, as well as over 200 other golf courses across the country. Rich in golf history, Our course is located on a private island in the Delaware River. It is as beautiful as it is fun. The course features a flower garden, vegetable garden, bald eagles nest, and a halfway house that features our homemade beer.

Arnold Palmer met his wife while he was living on the island and Jackie Gleason learned how to golf here. This course is rich in history and boasts a long line of golfing greats who have played our championship course, including Walter Hagen, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Lawson Little, Long Jim Barnes, and Johnny Farrell. A free golf cart tour is available where you learn about the history and see the sites via a golf cart.

Gem and Keystone Brewpub

​Casual dining in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Open for lunch and dinner. The wood-fired grill, house made dressings, dips, and sauces perfectly complement the Gem’s pub items, salads, and delicious entrees. Assorted sandwiches, inspired appetizers, and creative blackboard specials are the highlights of dining at the Gem. As always, all the menu items taste great with the handcrafted ShawneeCraft Beer.

Buckwood Cafe

​Head to our Buckwood Bakery and Café for our signature Shawnee House Blend coffee, fresh breakfast pastries, and bagels, as well as a wide assortment of fruity smoothies and coffee-based beverages, including cappuccinos, espressos, and blended ice coffees. You’ll also find delicious sandwiches and wraps, hand-dipped ice cream cones, and fresh-baked cookies.

Shawnee Playhouse

Year-round theater in the beautiful Pocono Mountains with something for everyone.

We strive to provide quality live theatre to the residents and vacationers of Shawnee on Delaware by offering a variety of high-quality productions, affordable entertainment, serving as a training ground for young theatre performers and technicians and engaging, entertaining, and fostering an appreciation of live theatre for adults, teens, and children.

Our residents receive $5 off adult tickets to any feature and headline show– up to 4 tickets.

​Community Concerts

Performers take the stage every Tuesday evening at 7. In the summer the concerts are held riverside on the Great Lawn. The rest of the year the concerts are fireside in the Main Lobby of The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort. Concerts are family-friendly and appropriate for all ages. Donations to the performers are gratefully accepted. Enjoy Shawnee's gift to the community! Brought to you by the Shawnee Institute Ltd, a non-profit foundation. This weekly live entertainment is a variety of styles performed by popular local artists. This is a free event.

Brewery Tours​

FIDELIS IN NATURAM, IN ARTEM FIDELIS. Latin for “True to nature, True to the craft.™”, our brewery’s motto and everything we do holds fast to this credo. Learn more about this by attending a Brewery Tour! Brewery Tours begin in the Lobby of the Shawnee Inn. From there, the walking tour begins and works its way outdoors through the resort grounds and into the Brewery. No advance reservations required for the public tours listed above. Tours are complimentary and include a 6 oz sample beer. The tour is approximately ¼ mile walk and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

River Trips

Our river trips offer the best way to experience the wild and scenic Delaware River. Whether you slip away for a few hours or set off on a full-day adventure, a trip along the Delaware will be a memorable time. Rates include canoes, kayaks, or rafts, as well as paddles, required life jackets, orientation, shuttle transportation, and parking. Special events can also be booked such as canoe and brew, full moon paddles, and guided trips. Please note, children must be at least 4 years old and weigh 40+ pounds to participate. Safety is our first priority.

Our residents receive a 25% discount on midweek trips.

Fishing

Retirement wouldn't be complete without fishing! The Delaware river offers an abundance of fish year-round including carp, trout, bass, catfish, and an annual shad run. Shawnee has designed a fishing trip to exceed the expectations of any fishing angler! Individuals, couples, and small groups can safely embark on a distinctive river adventure "Shawnee guided, drift boat style" with a charismatic certified PABC/NPS Fishing Guide. Individual fishing is also available on property or by canoe/ kayak. Fishing licenses can be obtained from the Shawnee General store.

Guided Hikes

Our friendly recreation staff is happy to guide you along the hiking trails of Eastern Pennsylvania; Certified by the American Hiking Guide Association, Wilderness First Aid Trained, and the National Association of Interpretation. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area provides an abundance of natural beauty. Each season offers a unique view. Some of our highlights include waterfalls, mountains, wildlife, history, leave no trace ethics, wild flowers, birds, and scenic views.

History and Nature Walks

The Shawnee Inn was built in the early 1900's and is rich with history. Join one of the staff members on a tour of the property to learn about the interesting historical events that occurred here and gain an appreciation of the natural beauty and significance of this area.

Year-round you can enjoy an evening by the fire along the Delaware river. Almost nightly a campfire is roaring and marshmallow are toasting. Family and friends are invited to eat a s'more and share a story. It is the perfect setting to strike up a conversation and relax at the end of the day.
